Polypipe Building Products’ commitment to its workforce has been recognised at one of Yorkshire’s most prestigious manufacturing awards. The company was named runner up at the regional 2015 EEF awards.

Based in Doncaster, Polypipe Building Products is an industry leading manufacturer of above and below ground drainage systems, plastic plumbing and underfloor heating systems. Representing an extensive range of fit for purpose high quality products, Polypipe is widely available through leading builders and plumbers merchants.

Judges at the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards celebrated Polypipe’s willingness to harness and build employees’ skills by shortlisting them in the Developing People award category.

To be considered for the EEF award, Polypipe was required to demonstrate its continued dedication to a sustainable workforce culture.

Over the last three years, Polypipe have invested time, resources and money into offering a wide range of training and development opportunities for its employees across the business. Polypipe understands the importance of creating an environment that enables them to attract, inspire and retain the right people to work at every level.

Throughout the year, Polypipe have introduced numerous initiatives in order to continually develop employees throughout the company. An enhanced Customer Service programme is available to all employees. Throughout the company, employees at all levels have access to development tools and specific training tailored to their needs through an integrated training team.

To boost team dynamic and efficiency, a Leadership Development programme has been introduced to support employees at managerial level. This will further develop their leadership skills and ability to adhere to company processes. An Improved performance review process allows space to discuss career aspirations which has proven to strengthen the bond between line managers and employees.

This continued commitment is also reflected in the company’s Investors in People accolade awarded earlier this year.

Steven Nevins the Supply Chain Director received the award alongside Jazz Wilson Polypipe’s Learning and Development Specialist. Both Steven and Jazz said they were "absolutely delighted and appreciative of the recognition for everyone’s hard work."

In December 2015 Polypipe was also awarded a CMA award for Marketing Team of the Year.

Last year, Polypipe has also supported the development of talent in the local community. Working alongside Doncaster Chamber Skills Academy, Polypipe was able to offer secondary school training to help young people prepare for the world of work, including advice on CV writing and interview skills.
